Who We Are?

PROJECT GOALS

The SLOMPC is made up of several partners working to implement a number of different treatments designed to improve the health of the Cambria Monterey Pine Forest through a CAL FIRE Forest Health Grant.

  • Forest health treatments will promote the health and vigor of Monterey pine forests through:
  • Retaining large healthy Monterey pines and a mosaic of understory species to support diverse communities of plants and animals including habitat features like standing snags, downed wood, and forest openings.
  • Reducing the number of dead, dying, and diseased Monterey Pine trees, including concentrations of smaller and deformed Monterey pines, to reduce hazardous fuel concentrations.
  • Increasing healthy Monterey pine natural regeneration including planting Monterey pine in areas lacking adequate regeneration.
  • Removing non-native and invasive species

Current Partners:

San Luis Obispo Community FireSafe Council, CAL FIRE SLU, Upper Salinas-Las Tablas Resource Conservation District, Covell Ranch, Hearst Ranch, California Department of Fish and Wildlife, Cambria Community Services District, and Fiscalini Open Space Preserve.
